David Bruce Ginden

David Bruce Ginden of Coalgate, OK was born on December 29th, 1958, to Abraham and Hazel (Muncy) Ginden in Chicago, IL. David, also lovingly referred to as Dave, Davey-boy, Red, or Grandpa Red passed away on December 12, 2025, just 17 days shy of his 67th birthday. He graduated from Von Steuben High School in Chicago and attended HVAC school.

David spent most of his life as a resident of Chicago and moved to Coalgate, OK in 2001. David had an entrepreneur spirit, he was an owner-operator truck driver for many years, but his fondest memories were of his time as a restaurant owner when he ran DJ’s Depot, a diner and neighborhood staple in Chicago’s northside Andersonville on Ravenswood Ave with his late wife Jenny and late mother in-law Janelle.

David was a devoted father to his son Christopher, and beloved grandfather to his grandsons Jackson and Henry. He loved his grandson with all his heart. David was always referred to as jolly, compassionate, and caring. He was always lending a hand for others in his community and helped take care of his older brother Steve and sister in-law Teresa who both passed earlier this year. Dave was an avid coin collector and enjoyed collecting Hot Wheels as part of the “Hot Wheels of Coalgate” group – handing out cars to kids at local Halloween and Christmas celebrations. Dave was a fan of the Chicago Bears, Bulls, Blackhawks and Cubs, and OKC Thunder. Dave also enjoyed attending concerts and sporting events, camping, fishing, going to his son’s stand-up comedy shows, serving as the community Uber driver, was a pinball enthusiast, loved visiting multiple Bucee’s locations, taking trips with his friends, and spending time with family. Dave always had a smile to share, and is remembered fondly by his community, friends, and family.

He is survived by his son, Christopher Ginden and wife Jamie of Anna, TX; grandchildren Jackson and Henry; brother Randy Ginden and wife Betty of Chicago, IL; sister, Ellen Ginden of Conroe, TX; niece, Jennifer Ginden Calder and husband Jon of Denver, CO; nephew Alan Ginden of Chicago, IL; nephew, Robert Ginden and partner Latosha Safe of Atoka, OK; great nephews, Claysen Ginden and Benjamin Massey of Atoka, OK, great niece Chaini Hunt-Ginden of Atoka, OK, ex-wife, Lucille (Maas) Ginden of Lehigh, OK, along with other relatives and many dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Abraham and Hazel Yavon (Muncy) Ginden; wife, Jennifer (Allman) Ginden; brother, Steve and wife Teresa Ginden; brother, Bobby Ginden; niece-in-law, Heather Ginden; grandniece-in-law, Charlotte Ginden; mother-in-law, Janelle Allman; and mother and fatherin- law, Lois and Walter Maas.

Memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2025, @ 10:00 AM at Brown’s Funeral Chapel in Coalgate with his family officiating.
