Edward Lewis Merritt

Edward Lewis Merritt, a Coalgate resident, passed away July 9, 2022 at his home in Coalgate, OK at the age of 74 years, 8 months and 24 days.

He was born October 15, 1947 to Daniel Jerome and Eleanor Elizabeth (Rusk) Merritt at Grantsburg, WI.

Edward graduated from Snow Flake High School in Snow Flake, AZ and married Connie Louise Bias January 23, 1976 at Clarksville, TX. They enjoyed 46 years together.

Edward was a lumberjack for many years. He enjoyed hunting arrowheads, working with wood and fishing. Edward collected coins, baseball cards, marbles and toy cars.

Survivors include his wife Connie Louise Merritt of the home in Coalgate; daughter, Belinda Lou Thomas and husband Brad of Coalgate; son, Edward Jerome Merritt of Coalgate; grandchildren, Natasha, Sebien, Connor, Easton, Emma, Nicole and Payton; six greatgrandchildren; sister, Elizabeth Hanson and husband Randy of WI; brother, Kevin Merritt and wife Anna of WI; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of dearly loved friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel Jerome and Eleanor Elizabeth (Rusk) Merritt and brother, Jimmy Merritt.

Arrangements are under the direction of Brown’s Funeral Service of Coalgate.
