Service Held for George Eugene Mills

Funeral services for George Eugene Mills, a Wardville resident, were held Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Brown’s Funeral Chapel in Coalgate with Bro. Eddie Hogue officiating. Burial was in Wardville Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Brown’s Funeral Service of Coalgate.

Mr. Mills was born on January 2, 1950, to George Edward and Velda Mae (Gipson) Mills, at Paragould, Arkansas. He passed away on December 17, 2025, at his home in Wardville, Oklahoma, at the age of 75 years, 11 months and 15 days.

George graduated from East Peoria High School in Peoria, Illinois. He received Novell Advanced Training 1 & 2 at the American Institute, Chicago, IL; IBM Business Basic, Lotus 123 and MS-DOS at the Computer Terminal Inc, Peoria, IL; a certificate of achievement in Computer Operations Management at the Tulsa Junior College, Tulsa, OK; and his Associate’s Degree in Applied Science Business Management at the Illinois Central College, East Peoria, IL.

He began his working career as Programming/ MIS Manager at Security Savings and Loan Association in Peoria, then worked as MIS Operations Manager and MIS Micro Systems Specialist at OSF Medical Center and OSF Corporate MIS in Peoria and later worked as IT Manager for Fort Transfer Company in Morton, IL. George performed aircraft maintenance and radio operations during his service in the United States Air National Guard. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and playing hymns on his guitar for his mother. George also enjoyed shopping online. He loved his animals.

Survivors include his daughter, Jennifer Butler of Arizona; brothers, Darrell Mills and wife Sue, Jack Mills and wife Pat all of Wardville; nieces and nephews, Kim Hufeld, Stacey Annis and husband Chad all of Peoria, IL, Shaun Mills of Arizona, Kara Eldridge and husband Melvin, Shara Hall and husband Amos all of Wardville, Justin Mills and wife Shelby of Tecumseh, OK, Jesse Mills of Oklahoma City, and Jeremy Mills of Wardville; lifelong friend Mike Robinson; along with numerous great-nieces, and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George Edward and Velda Mae (Gipson) Mills.

Casketbearers were Amos Hall, Zander Eldridge, Melvin Perkins, Justin Mills, Jesse Mills and Jeremy Mills. Honorary bearers included Lonnie Williams, Jerry Killian, Mark Danley and Phillip Danley.
