Service held for Herschel Lee Weathers

Funeral services for Herschel Lee Weathers, a Coalgate resident, were held Friday, March 11, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Brown’s Funeral Chapel in Coalgate with Pastor David Unsell officiating, assisted by Pastor Dennis Osborne. Burial was in Coalgate Cemetery with Brown’s Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Weathers was born December 25, 1966 to Billy Rendil and Gladys Ruth (Wood) Weathers at Muskogee, OK and passed away March 7, 2022 at Coalgate at the age of 55 years, 2 months and 10 days. He graduated from Coalgate High School and enlisted in the Air Force on January 15, 1986. Lee served 21 years and served as First Sergeant in the Air Force before his retirement in 2006.

He then attended East Central University and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. He married Robbie Weathers on March 23, 1985 at Coalgate. Lee was a loan administrative assistant at Shamrock Bank in Coalgate, OK. He was a faithful member of Cornerstone Praise and Worship Center in Colgate where he loved being involved in their praise and worship team. Lee loved music. He could make a mean scarf, was a Lego master and liked to loom knit. He had a passion for the Air Force and his favorite times were spent with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Robbie Weathers of the home; daughter, Beth Evans and husband Lloyd of Chandler, OK; son, Dusty Weathers and wife Courtney of Jacksonville, AR; grandson, Ray Evans IV of Chandler, OK; granddaughter, Braylee Evans of Chandler, OK; sister, Janice Hampton of Cottonwood; sisters-in-law, Debbie Weathers of Cottonwood, Samatha Overcashier and husband Tim of Peyton, CO, Charity Johnson and husband Chris of Tahlequah, OK, and Stephanie Randolph of Oklahoma City; mother-in-law, Patricia Standridge of Oklahoma City; along with many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Billy Rendil and Gladys Ruth (Wood) Weathers and brother, Rendil Weathers.

Casketbearers were Ray Evans IV, Johnny Sandmann, Michael Burns, Michael Juristy, Brian Walkup, Tommy Robson, Cody Moore, and Jeremy McNutt. Honorary casketbearers were Dusty Weathers, Lloyd Evans, Ray Evans Jr., Les Pebworth, Jack Shirley, Nick Long, Aaron Blue, and Berney Blue.
