Service held for Walter Lee Hogue

Funeral services for Walter Lee Hogue, a Coalgate resident, were held Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Brown’s Funeral Chapel in Coalgate with Bro. Jackie Lewis officiating. Burial was in Coalgate Cemetery with Brown’s Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Hogue was born June 6, 1931 to Charles Walter and Frances “Fannie” Elvira (Day) Hogue at Tupelo, OK and passed away March 7, 2022 at Coalgate at the age of 90 years, 9 months and 1 day. He attended Tupelo School and served in the United States Army during the Korean War.

Walter married Inez Wilson September 15, 1951 at Coalgate and they spent 68 wonderful years together before her passing on September 9, 2020.

He was a technician for the Coal County Soil Conservation District. Walter was a member and deacon of Cottonwood Baptist Church where he loved to attend. He enjoyed gardening and working on small engines and tractors. Walter enjoyed helping people and spending time with family. He made everyone feel like family.

Survivors include his son, Edward Hogue and wife Dianne of Coalgate; grandsons, Dustin Hogue and wife Valarie of Seminole, OK and Jonathan Hogue and wife Jerri of Coalgate; great-grandchildren, Haven Hogue, Jay Hogue, Christian Hogue, Stevie Jo Hogue and Carter Hogue; nieces, Paula Impson of Coalgate and Phyllis Taylor of Union City, OK; along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and a host of dearly loved friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Inez Wilson Hogue; parents, Charles Walter and Frances “Fannie” Elvira (Day) Hogue; sisters, Sybil Carter, Della Tallent, Georgie Wagoner and Addie Hogue.

Casketbearers were Nick Lee, Larry Pope, Robert Pugh, Roy Deck, Tony Gibby and Tammy Palmer. Honorary bearers were Don Lawrence, Bob Trail, Reuben Burge and John Linton.
