Service held for Joy Nell Weller

Funeral services for Joy Nell Weller were held Saturday, September 2, 2023 at the Tupelo Baptist Church with Bros. Wendell Ingram, Daniel Ingram and Jeff Campbell officiating. Burial was in Byrd’s Prairie Cemetery with Brown’s Funeral Service of Coalgate in charge of arrangements.

Joy Nell Weller, age 82, a lifelong Tupelo resident, passed away on August 30th, 2023, in Tupelo, OK surrounded by family. She was born on November 28th, 1940, to W.D. “Bill” Lowden & Gladys Raney Lowden in Ada, OK. She attended Tupelo schools. Joy married Donald Wayne Weller on July 10th, 1960, and they recently celebrated 63 years of marriage. Joy was a lifelong member of the Tupelo Baptist Church. She worked on the dairy farm for several years and worked for Tupelo Schools for 38 years. Joy enjoyed keeping the scorebook for Tupelo basketball and baseball, going to sporting events, cooking for her family, decorating, and supporting the school system any way she could. Joy’s greatest joy in life was spending time with her loved ones and family gatherings.

Survivors include her husband, Donald Wayne Weller of the home; Children, Christie Bills, Darla Pearce, Darryl Weller, Donna & Kelly McCollum, Deborn “Clay” & Brandy Weller all of Tupelo, OK and Darryll & Wendy Canida of Cleveland, TN; Grandchildren, Justin & Jennifer Bills of Ardmore, OK, Josh & Sarah Bills of Tupelo, OK, Randa and Mitchell Phillips of Ada, OK, Cody & Lynsey Pearce of Hallsville, TX, Kendra & Chad Keefer of Blanchard, OK, Casey & Rebecca McCollum of Centrahoma, OK, Corey & Kurston McCollum, Conor & Shaylen McCollum, Davin Weller, Braylen Weller all of Tupelo, OK; 15 greatgrandchildren; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, W.D. “Bill” & Gladys (Raney) Lowden; brother, Dub Lowden; father & mother-in-law, Deborn & Opal Weller; son-in-law, James Randall Bills; sisters-in-law, Osie Stephens, Phyllis Weller, Jan Weller and Nell Tomlinson; brothers-in-law: Joe Weller, Bill Stephens and Paul Fortner.

Casketbearers were Justin Bills, Josh Bills, Cody Pearce, Casey McCollum, Corey McCollum, Conor McCollum, Davin Weller and Braylen Weller. Honorary bearers were Brian Davis, Steve Ake, Lance Britt, Tony Stevens, Kevin Mann, Jerry Romines, Kenny Fortner, David Crane, Tammy Palmer, Booger Pickens, Jason Goosetree, Danny Lowden and David Lowden.
