Service held for Kenneth Leone

Kenneth Leone, 90, of Shawnee passed away on Friday, March 29, 2019. He was born April 13, 1928 to Joe and Elizabeth Leone in Phillips, Oklahoma.

He was raised in Phillips and Coalgate, Oklahoma.

Kenneth met and dated Doris Paris for 3 years before marrying on April 11, 1948 in Bonham, Texas. They began their family in Coalgate, Oklahoma, lived several places before moving to Shawnee and have lived in Shawnee for the past 60 years.

Kenneth retired from Tinker Air Force Base in 1991. After retirement, he enjoyed fishing and camping at the lake. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Kenneth is survived by his daughter Sharon Leone, son and daughter-in-law John and Pam Leone, son Kenny and daughter-in-law Tina Leone all of Shawnee, daughter Barbara and son-in-law William Justice of Mt. Pleasant, Texas, 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren, brother and sister-in-law Joe and Bette Leone, sister and brother-in-law Mary and George Noll, sister Doris Rufenacht, sister-in-law Edith McCauley, special niece and husband Sandy and Raymond Hopkins and many other nieces and nephews and special friends Tom Willoughby, James Alderson and Sibble Warden.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his wife, Doris, of 67 years; his parents; sister Dorothy Leone; brother-in-laws Curtis McCauley, Kirk Rufenacht and nephews, Stephen and Mike Leone and Jimmy McCauley.

Pallbearers were grandsons, Jamie, Josh, Joey, Dax and Chad Leone and Carter Justice. Honorary bearers were James Redding and Dr. Alex Simpson.

Visitation was held from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. March 31 at Cooper Funeral Home in Tecumseh. Rosary services were at 7:00 p.m. March 31 at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Shawnee. Mass of Christian Burial was at 10:00 a.m. April 1, 2019 at St. Benedict Catholic Church. Burial followed at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Shawnee under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

The family has deemed St. Jude’s Children Hospital as appropriate for memorials in Kenneth’s name: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101-9929.
