Service held for Linda Kay

Linda Kay (Winters) Cox, age 79, of Atoka, OK, passed away February 26, 2022 in Norman, Oklahoma. She was born in Stringtown, Oklahoma on July 15, 1942 to Irving Elbert “Bert” Winters and Vay “Nanny” (Kampplain) Winters. She graduated from Atoka High School and then went on to attend Oklahoma University.

Kay worked for the Oklahoma Department of Human Services for 40 years as administrative assistant and supervisor, enjoyed antiques, gardening, shopping, her little dogs, art, a good cup of coffee, trips to the beauty shop and being a mom. She was an avid believer and enjoyed a close personal relationship with Jesus. We would be remiss to not mention this important part of her life.

Kay also enjoyed spending time with her late sisters, Bobbye and Lucy, and her late brother, Bo, as well as a fairly large extended family. She also enjoyed a lifelong, best friend relationship with Jessie Jo Tunnel.

Kay is survived by her children, Bo Cox and wife Deborah, and Crockett Cox; beloved pets Abigail and Sara; sister, Betty Jo Compton; and several cousins, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Sue Copeland, Bobbye Lowry, Lou Ann Lowe, Irving “Bo” Winters and Ronnie Dale Winters.

A funeral service for Linda was held Friday March 4, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Brown’s Funeral Chapel in Atoka.

Bo Cox, Clifford Brown, Mickey Lowe, Fred Lowry, Dennis McNeil, and Tony Cochran served as pallbearers. Crockett Cox, David Lowry, Andy Price, Rusty Price, JD Voto, Bill Wilson, Johnny Winters, Ronnie Lowry and Bruce Usher were honorary pallbearers.

Burial was in Stringtown Cemetery, Stringtown, Oklahoma.

Donations may be made in honor of Kay to INCA, Atoka, OK or to a charity of your own choosing.

We miss you already, will love you always, and hope you are enjoying the best cup of coffee you’ve ever had.
