Service held for Olene Ray Daniel

Funeral services for Olene Ray Daniel, an Olney resident, were held Sunday, December 19, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at The Family Church in Atoka, OK with Josh Brecheen officiating. Burial was in Moore Cemetery with Brown’ Funeral Service of Coalgate in charge of arrangements. Mr. Daniel was born March 5, 1935 to John Wesley and Hazel Charlotte (Brown) Daniel at Olney, OK and passed away December 15, 2021 at Durant, OK at the age of 86 year, 9 months and 10 days.

He graduated from Olney High School then went on to receive his Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science at OSU. He served in the National Guard Medical Unit and married Catherine Georgina Durbin August 24, 1963 at Capital Hill Christian Church in Oklahoma City. They enjoyed 58 wonderful years together. Olene was a feed, seed and fertilizer inspector for the Oklahoma State Department of Agriculture and a farmer and rancher. He was a member of The Family Church in Atoka, OK.

Survivors include his wife, Catherine Georgina (Durbin) Daniel of the home in Olney; sons, John Daniel and wife Cindy of Clarita, OK and Justin Daniel and wife Kristie of Lane, OK; grandchildren, Nathaniel Daniel and wife Kenna of Norman, OK, Samuel, Ruth, Joseph and Benjamin Daniel of Clarita, OK, Kaitlyn and Jacob Daniel of Lane, OK; great-granddaughter, Story Daniel of Lane, OK; twin sister, Alene Arnold and husband Harvey of Weatherford, TX; sister Phyllis Smith of Elk City, OK; sister-in-law, Constance Daniel of Memphis, TN; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many dearly loved friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Wesley and Hazel Charlotte (Brown) Daniel; brother, J. W. Daniel; sister, Zelma Dean Brecheen and brother-in-law, Joe Brecheen.

Casketbearers were Travis Brecheen, Josh Brecheen, Ryan Brecheen, Jay Gilbertson, Zane Brecheen, Dane Brecheen and Frankie Brecheen. Honorary casketbearers were O. N. Riley, Betty Riley, Harvey Arnold, Floyd Nelson, Billy Joe Henley, Joe Daniel, Charlie Gilbertson, Wilson Kingsbury, Lynn Daniel and Mike Nelson.
