Service held for Vircle Thetford

Funeral services for Vircle Vessie (Stonecipher) Thetford, an Ada resident, formerly of Coalgate, were held Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Brown’s Funeral Chapel in Coalgate with Pastor Christopher Snowden officiating, assisted by Minister Carson Thetford. Burial was in Ashland Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Brown’s Funeral Service of Coalgate.

Mrs. Thetford was born January 30, 1922 to Allen Clinton and Vessie Viola (Johnson) Stone-cipher at Turkey, AR and passed away May 4, 2019 at Ada, OK at the age of 97 years, 3 months and 4 days. She attended Salt Prairie School and married Vernon Thetford on June 11,1955 at Legal Church of Christ. He preceded her in death June 25, 1989. Vircle was a housewife and loved gardening, canning vegetables, cooking, quilting, and growing flowers. Working was her pleasure. Her great joy was hatching baby chickens and raising them.

Survivors include daughters, Helen Clay of Whitedeer, TX and June Lanham of Muskogee, OK; sons, Dillard Thetford and wife Joann of Globe, AZ, Travis Thetford and wife Darlene, Jimmy and Terry Thetford, and Jo Thetford and wife Rhonda, all of Ada, OK; daughters-in-law, Nita Thetford of Tulsa, OK and Jeannie Thetford of McAlester, OK; brother, Vernon Stonecipher and wife Irene of Ada, OK; sister-in-law, Shirley Stonecipher of Centrahoma, OK; many grandkids and great-grandkids; along with many other dear and loved family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons, Lewis Thetford and Buck Thetford; and brothers, L. C. Stonecipher Doyin Stonecipher and Harland Stonecipher.

Casketbearers were Brent Thetford, Tyler Thetford, John Sneed, Carson Thetford, Larry Lanham, Michael Clay, Brad Clay, Mike Thetford and Bruce Thetford. Honorary bearers were members of the Legal Church of Christ.
