Service held for Yvonne Swain

Graveside services for Yvonne Swain, a lifelong Coalgate resident, were held December 31, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Round Lake Cemetery in Centrahoma, OK with Paula Carney officiating. Brown’s Funeral Service of Atoka was in charge of arrangements.

Yvonne was born June 7, 1937 to Andy and Bicey (Roberts) Billy at Coalgate and passed away December 27, 2021 at Atoka at the age of 84 years, 6 months and 20 days. She graduated from Round Hill High School and married Leroy Swain October 31, 1970 at Coalgate. They celebrated 42 years of marriage before his passing on March 19, 2012. Yvonne was an LPN until her retirement. She was a member of Gospel Lighthouse in Coalgate. Yvonne enjoyed sewing, crafts, and caring for her pets. She was a full blood Choctaw/Chickasaw and was fluent in both languages.

Survivors include a grandson, Colt Sanders of Arkansas; granddaughter, Rachel Haire Ramsey of Ada, OK; brother, Samuel Paul Billy of Ohio; halfbrother, Ellis Carnes, Jr., of Phillips, OK; half-sister, Freda Louise (Carnes) Ott of Coalgate; nieces, Dohna Bates and husband Bob of Yukon, OK, Pat Cooper and husband Roland of Atoka, OK; nephew, Preston Scott of Atoka; great-nephew, Zakk Bates of Edmond, OK; fourteen greatgrandchildren; friends and caregiver, Rachel Jennings and husband, Lonnie of Clarita, OK.

She was preceded in death by her father, Andy Billy; mother, Bicey (Roberts) Keel; children, Brian Orr, Lisa Noel Swain, and Tammie Haire; siblings, Iva Jean Jackson, Verdelma Fobb, Sam Ed Billy, Amos Carnes and Eula Mae Billy.
