Service today for Alyene Tomlinson

Services for Alyene Tomlinson, Coalgate, are Wednesday (today), October 31, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Brown’s Funeral Home Chapel in Coalgate with Bro. Rusty Canoy officiating. Burial will be in Coalgate Cemetery with Brown’s Funeral Service of Coalgate in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Tomlinson passed away October 27, 2018 at Lexington, OK. She was born at Lula, OK to Joseph Lee Johnston and Dona “Doney” Gore Johnston on October 19, 1918. She married Ulyesess Tomlinson on November 12, 1938 at Coalgate. They were married 68 years before his passing. Mrs. Tomlinson attended grade school at Rocky Point, north of Centrahoma, and Tupelo High School. She was not only a housewife, but also worked on the family farm doing whatever was needed. In 1958 she began working at Blue Bell/Wrangler and later Vanity Fair for 33 years retiring in 1991. Mrs. Tomlinson lived life for her family. She loved her children and all of her many grandchildren. She enjoyed the grands’ and great-grands’ birthday parties and liked watching them play baseball or any sport they were involved in. Mrs. Tomlinson liked to sew and was an avid reader. She was a very sweet and precious lady that will be missed dearly by her family and friends. She was of the Baptist faith.

100 Recently th birthday Mrs and . was Tomlinson inducted celebrated as the 2251 her st person honored by Centenarians of Oklahoma since their inception in 1991.

Survivors include two sons, Donald Tomlinson and wife Nell of Claremore and Wayne Tomlinson and wife Linda of Coalgate; two daughters, Ulene Mowdy of Lexington and Lawana Dansby and husband Ronald of Ada; nine grandchildren, Annette Hamm and husband Jerry, Tony Mowdy and wife Buffy all of Lexington, Tammi Stephens and husband Harold of Atoka, Michael Tomlinson and wife Lynn of Tulsa, WaLinda Harbour and husband Robbie of Atoka, Joann Flowers of Coalgate, Daniel Tomlinson and wife, Amanda of Pauls Valley, Darin Dansby and Justin Dansby and wife Ashley all of Ada; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; eighteen great-great-grandchildren with two more on the way; grandson-in-law Mack Buchanan of Wanette, OK; one brother, Clement Johnston of Anza, CA and five nieces.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ulyesess Tomlinson; her parents, Joe and Doney Johnston; granddaughter Janet Mowdy Buchanan; son-in-law, Glenn Mowdy; three brothers, Norris Johnston, Howard Johnston and Art Johnston; and one sister, Jewel Roach.

Bearers will be Mrs. Tomlinson’s nine grandchildren. Honorary bearers will be her sons-in-law and daughters-in-law as well as the great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
