Service today for Betty Jean Williams

Funeral services for Betty Jean Ellis Williams, a Tupelo resident, will be held Wednesday, August 11, 2021 (today) at 2:00 p.m. at Brown’s FuneralChapel in Coalgate with Pastor Kenneth May officiating. Burial will be in Byrd’s Prairie Cemetery with Brown’s Funeral Service of Coalgate in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Williams was born October 27, 1933 to Bennie Earl and Rosie Caroline (Cogburn) Williams at Dumas, TX and passed away August 5,2021 at Tupelo, OK at the age of 87 years, 9 months and 9 days. She graduated high school at Nashoba then attended ECU college. Betty was a home health aide and a member of the New Beginnings Wapanucka Pentecostal Church. She loved raising gardens and playing the piano and accordion. Betty enjoyed music and loved telling people about Jesus. She also like taking pictures and her favorite times were spent with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughter, Susan Janetta Sutterfield and husband Joey of Tupelo, OK; granddaughter,Jody Sutterfield of Tupelo; grandson Joey Sutterfield of Tupelo; brother, Bobby Williams and wife Becky and children of Bowie, TX; nieces, Tonya Townley and children of Poteau, OK, Rhonda Dodson and children and Cheryl Sikes and children, all of Mena, AR; great-niece, Nicole Lovitt and husband Blake of Clayton, OK; along with other numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bennie Earl and Rosie Caroline (Cogburn) Williams; sister, Joan Williams; and brothers, Marvin Williams, Buddy Williams and Hackell Williams.

Casketbearers will be David Williams, Joey Sutterfield, Roger Sutterfield, James Sutterfield, and Dylan Williams. Honorary bearer will be Bob Williams.
