Funeral services for Virginia Ann (Woody) Self, formerly of Lawton, a resident of Atoka County for the past 60 years were held Monday, December 2, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at McGee Valley Baptist Church in Daisy, OK with Rev. Phil Tallman offi ciating. Burial was in Redden Cemetery in Redden, OK with Brown’s Funeral Service of Atoka in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Self was born June 2, 1941 to Elmer and Johnnie Gertrude (Covey) (Hassfeldt) Woody at Atoka, OK and passed away November 26, 2019 at Tulsa, OK at the age of 78 years, 5 months and 24 days. She attended Capitol Hill High School in Oklahoma City and married William “Nathan” Self on August 15, 1958. Th ey had 49 wonderful years together before Nathan’s passing on August 28, 2007. Virginia was a beautician and worked several years in local beauty shops and for a long time owned her own shop in Stringtown, OK. She was a member of McGee Valley Baptist Church and loved doing everything church related from teaching Sunday School, Bible Studying, singing in the choir and cooking especially during church camp for the kids. Virginia also loved canning, cooking for her family, and just enjoying time with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Claude Self and wife Denise of Stringtown and Carol Ann Doose of Tushka, OK; grandchildren, Amy Frazin and husband, Jason of Richardson, TX, Wesley Self and wife Sara of Pittsburg, OK, Cheryl Doose of Lake Tahoe, CA, Venesa Webb and husband Brian of Tushka, OK and Brittany Cole and husband Adam of Coalgate; great-grandsons, Trevor Mosqueda, Lucas Self, Elijah Webb, Gunner Webb, Jack Frazin, Rowdy Self and Parker Cole; great-granddaughters, Skylar Self, Elizabeth Doose, Karma Doose, Keira Self, Kylee Webb, Harper Frazin, Alexa Jaurigue, and Ariana Frazin; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers, Robert Woody and Fred Hussfeldt; son, Clendon Self and daughter Connie Self.

Casketbearers were Wesley Self, Lucus Self, Brian Webb, Mike Mosqueda, Trevor Mosqueda, Jason Frazin, and Eli Webb. Prayer Warriors were Dorothy Muncy, Edna Burleson, Ruthie Anderson, Lavona Wyrick and Sharon Tallman.
