Graveside services for Margrett Ann Johnston, 85, of Coalgate, were 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at Pleasant Grove Cemetery; Rev. Wesley Thompson officiated.

Mrs. Johnston passed away Friday, June 12, 2026, at her home. She was born July 27, 1940, in Coal County to Tony Issac and Josephine King Angel.

On April 25, 1959, she married John Royce Johnston. He preceded her in death on December 5, 2013.

An avid seamstress, she expressed her creativity through sewing and took pride in every stitch she made. She cherished her beloved dogs, who brought her constant companionship and happiness throughout the years.

She was an enthusiastic reader who could often be found with a good book in hand, and she enjoyed relaxing while watching classic Western films. Above all, her faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation of her life. Her unwavering devotion guided her actions, strengthened her through life’s challenges, and inspired those around her. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, loving heart, and steadfast faith. Though she will be deeply missed by her family and friends, they find comfort in knowing she is at peace in the presence of her Savior. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her two sons, Robert Johnston and fiancé, Gwendolyn Grigsby, of Coalgate, and Royce Johnston, of Clarita; two sisters, Lorene Caruthers, of Tupelo, and Doris Meyers, of Florida; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John; parents; and sister, Estalene Jackson.
