Visitation for Tom Gibson, a Coalgate resident, will be Saturday, March 14, 2026, 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Brown’s Funeral Chapel in Coalgate. Services are under the direction of Brown’s Funeral Service of Atoka , OK.

Tom Elton Gibson, a Coalgate, OK resident, was born on Wednesday, May 18, 1940, to Floyd and Ollie Mary (Wallis) Gibson, at Olney, OK. Tom passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at Oklahoma City, OK at the age of 85 years, 9 months and 23 days.

He graduated from Coalgate High School and went on to receive a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from East Central University in 1977. Tom was an electrician and supervisor for OG&E where he retired. Tom proudly served his country in The United States Navy where he served during Vietnam.

He married Vivian Ruth (Archer) on Saturday, April 2nd, 1966 at Coalgate, Oklahoma. They spent 46 wonderful years together before her passing in 2012. Tom was a hunter, gardener, fisherman, craftsman, and builder.

Survivors include his children, Guy Edward Reeder of Tupelo, Kimberly Ann Reeder of Wynnewood, Michelle Rene Blair of Ada, David Brian Gibson and husband Ed Harlow of Wichita, KS, and Tonya Lynn Gibson of Carrollton, TX; grandsons, John Thomas Jones of Coalgate, Andrew JohnBlairandhusband Blake Anthony Blair of Shawnee, and Ethan Michael Blair of Norman.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian Ruth Gibson; father, Floyd Houston Gibson; mother, Ollie Mary (Wallis) Ray and husband Lehman and brothers, Floyd Gibson and Lee Gibson.
