Velda Lorene Denny
Graveside services for Velda Lorene Denny, a Coalgate resident, will be held Friday, April 10, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at the Coalgate Cemetery with Gregg Denny officiating. Casketbearers will be Gregg Denny, Kyle Denny, Kevin Carr and Bret Carr.
Brown’s Funeral Service of Coalgate is in charge of arrangements.
There will be no public visitation or family night.
Mrs. Denny was born on January 17, 1930, to James Oliver and Vada Nanny (Carter) Kirkland, at Cottonwood, OK. Velda passed away onApril 06, 2026 at Atoka, OK at the age of 96 years, 2 months and 20 days. She attended Nolia, Clayton and Coalgate Schools. Velda worked at Wrangler/ Bluebell. She married William Edward “Ed” Denny in 1947 at Sherman, TX, they spent 63 wonderful years before his passing on March 10, 2010. Velda was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Coalgate since 1957.
Survivors include her son, Eddie Denny and wife Mary Helen of Greensboro, NC; daughter, Edra Carr of Atoka, OK; grandchildren, Gregg Denny and wife Trish of High Point, NC, Kyle Denny, Joseph Denny, both of Summerfield, NC, and Kevin Carr and wife Regina of Atoka; great grandchildren, Brittney Carr Lovelace and husband Kane of Durant, Bret Carr of Atoka, Alex Denny and wife Madi Hill of Roanoak, VA, Sam Denny of Orlando, FL, Nolan Denny, Reese Denny, both of Summerfield, NC; great-great-grandchildren, Kash Edward Lovelace, Keach Michael Lovelace, Kade Mack Lovelace, all of Durant and Tanner Outlaw Carr of Atoka.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Oliver and Vada Nanny (Carter) Kirkland; husband, Ed Denny and great-great grandson, Baby Cole Alan Carr.
