Study: Outside Of School, America’s Teens Average 70 Hours Per Week Glued To Screens

Americans ages 11 to 18 play online for an average of 10 hours per day, according to a study out today by a research team that includes psychologist Jean Twenge, author of “iGen” and “Generation Me.” The researchers surveyed 1,600 Americans ages 11 to 18 in May 2022. On average, the study participants reported using digital media an average of 10 hours and four minutes per day, on such entertainment activities as social media, video chat, texting, shopping, and gaming.

Joe Nichols

Visitation was held Friday, December 16, 2022 at Brown’s Funeral Chapel in Coalgate, 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. for Coalgate resident, Joe Nichols. Joe passed away December 14, 2022 at Coalgate at the age of 85 years, 10 months and 7 day. He was born February 7, 1937 to Henry Nichols and Elsie May (Lane) Jameson at Stringtown, OK. Joe served 4 years in the US Navy from 1955 to 1959. He married Dovie Bryant July 30, 1965 at Midwest City, OK. They were married 57 years. Joe worked in bridge construction, was a pipeliner, welder and a logger. He was a member of the Pipeline Union. He loved to hunt, fish and spend time in the woods watching the animals. Joe enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces. He loved to watch football and play cards and dominoes with his family and friends on the holidays.
