Nettie Dean Adams

Nettie Dean (Kirtley) Adams, a Harrah resident, passed away December 7, 2020 at her home in Harrah, OK surrounded by her family. She was born June 25, 1935 to Arthur Debs and Louise (Hamlett) Kirtley at Lebanon, OK at the age of 85 years, 5 months and 12 days. She attended schools in Oklahoma and was a housewife and seamstress. Nettie married Robert “Bob” Bert Adams on December 29, 1984 in Mt. Pleasant, TX. They resided in Coalgate. He preceded her in death November 30, 2013. Nettie was a loved and respected wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1957 and served as a full-time pioneer for several years. Nettie resided in Harrah, OK with her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Kevin. She helped care for her parents and worked as a seamstress with her sister Mattie for many years Nettie loved gardening, sewing and spending time with her family.

Funeral services for Paul Morgan Jr., a Wapanucka, OK resident, were held Saturday, December 5, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Brown’s Funeral Chapel of Atoka with Darwin Hall officiating. Burial was in Boggy Depot Cemetery at Boggy Depot with Brown’s Funeral Service of Atoka in charge of arrangements.

Coalgate man arrested for child porn crimes

A Coalgate man is behind bars at the Coal County jail for child pornography crimes. His arrest came about following a seven-month joint agency investigation by the Carter County Sheriff’s Office/OSBI Task Force and the Coal County Sheriff’s Office. Coal County investigators included Undersheriff Philip Magby and sex crimes investigator Nicholas Davis.

Tim Webster appointed District Attorney for Atoka, Bryan and Coal Counties

Governor Kevin Stitt announced November 30 the appointment of Tim Webster as District Attorney for District 19, which includes Atoka, Bryan and Coal Counties. Webster fills the seat of Emily Redman, who retired October 1. By statute, Webster has been serving as acting District Attorney since then.

Graveside services for Kathern Lorain (Chester) Cox, a Coalgate resident, were held Friday, December 4, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Moore Cemetery with Mr. Kendal Knight officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Brown’s Funeral Service of Coalgate.
