Last December, the Virginia Military Institute removed a big statue of Stonewall Jackson. They are now hiding him in a museum. He was just one of many “celebrities” of the old south to vanish as American tries to change its history. I guess there really isn’t much wrong with the idea of change. The old South, as we knew it is gone. The idea of white people being able to enslave people of dark skin is long gone. And that’s a good thing in our land of freedom such as the USA basically is.

COALGATE CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING

COALGATE CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING — 8-year-old Rythom Griffith places his letter to Santa in the North Pole Express mailbox set up at City Hall. According to City Clerk Jackie Holt, at one time the mailbox was a payment receptacle for bulk water customers who would get water from a hydrant behind City Hall. Current City Hall employees were not sure how long the box was used for bulk water payments, she said, “but it was many years.” The eye-caching refurbished box, which is now the North Pole Express mailbox, is the work of several Street Department workers. About 50 Santa letters had been placed in the mailbox as of Monday afternoon (December 20). See Santa letters inside!
