The Coronavirus epidemic may have delayed the 2020 graduation, but it didn’t prevent the class from having a very special ceremony on the football field. On Thursday, July 9, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that much of eastern Oklahoma is an Indian reservation. The decision could reshape criminal justice in the area by preventing state authorities from prosecuting Native Americans.

Funeral services for William Chad Welch, a Coalgate resident, were held Monday, July 13, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Brown’s Funeral Chapel in Coalgate with Evangelist Marylin Pratt officiating. Interment was in Coalgate Cemetery with Brown’s Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.
