This was the first time our church was scheduled to minister to the folks in our nursing home here in Coalgate since the COVID disaster.It broke my heart when I went Saturday to see what was available for the Sunday service. They literally are in Prison with a steel fence around the front door.

This Sunday is Mother’s Day. A very special time for many of us who have such special memories of our very special mothers. When I was a child, my mom was the person I ran to when I was in pain or hurting.

It’s just about May and this heralds’ observations of many important days. Graduations take place and so does Mother’s Day and Memorial Day. I don’t know where we will hold the Memorial Day ceremonies this year, in the cemetery or at the school’s auditorium, but the date is May 30. Stay tuned.

I have been in the newspaper business for over ½ a century. I love this business as much today as I did fifty years ago. Even in Junior High and High School I would buy both the Tulsa World and Daily Oklahoman everyday and had the local newspaper delivered to our house.

Success in life is much like a series of competitive events. We win or lose based on our effort, preparation, and the team we have around us. Shortly after I started my business, I realized I needed to develop an all-star team if I was going to win in the business world.
