Edward Joseph Airington, 48, Lehigh, has been charged in Choctaw Nation District Court with felony driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs 2nd and subsequent, felony eluding police officer, and misdemeanor obstruction of justice. He was arrested the night of August 15 following a traffic stop that began in Coalgate, traveled to Phillips, and ultimately ended in Lehigh.

COALGATE — The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) has opened an investigation into Coal County Sheriff Jason Smith following a reported domestic dispute in Coalgate and multiple allegations of workplace misconduct, including sexual harassment and creating a hostile work environment.

A traffic accident, on Wednesday, July 23 was investigated by OHP Trooper Jamey Miller. The accident, which involved a semi-truck, driven by Ronnie Lambert of Coalgate, and car driven by Frank Balz of Phillips, occurred on Highway 3 & 75 at Phillips. The car pulled out onto the highway from the trailer park driveway in Phillips in front of the semitruck traveling north. Lambert applied his brakes but was unable to stop and rearended the car, causing it to end up in the ditch on the east side of the road. Mr. Balz was transported by ambulance to Coal County General Hospital, complaining of back injuries.
