Lady Cats begin 2019-2020 basketball season at home

The Coalgate Lady Wildcats started their 2019-2020 season at home against the Dickson Comets. After falling behind early in the first quarter, the Lady Cats had big middle quarters, but it wasn’t enough as Dickson would win by a 42-75 final.

Katyn Denson signs with MSC

Coalgate High School senior Katyn Denson signed a letter of intent on November 15 to play softball with Murray State College. Katyn is the daughter of Nicholas and Rachael Davis and Kyle and Jessica Denson, all of Coalgate.

Coalgate Wildcats 2019 season statistics

The 2019 Coalgate Wildcats wrapped up the 2019 season with 1,382 total yards of offense — 846 passing yards and 536 rushing yards. The Wildcats made five passing touchdowns and four rushing touchdowns.

Seventeen athletes, cheerleaders, band members and their families were recognized at the 2019 Coalgate High School Senior Night. The honorees, listed in order of Senior Night lineup, included: Cordell Brown – Football, cross country, basketball, track. Joe Horn – Football.

The Coalgate Wildcats stunned the Tishomingo Indians Friday night to get their first win of the season. The Indians had victory in their grasp late in the game, but the Wildcats clawed their way back in the final minutes.

Wolves blank Wildcats

The Coalgate Wildcats faced a tough foe in the Davis Wolves Friday, and lost 33-0. At Davis, in cold and rainy conditions, the Wildcats received the kickoff and returned it to their own 30-yard line.
