A series of unfortunate events in Friday night’s game between Coalgate and Kingston led to the first loss of the season for the Wildcats.

The Coalgate Lady Cats ended their season in Regional play at Howe, Oklahoma. Final words from Head Coach Logan Brown, “We finished up our season this past Friday with a loss to Wyandotte in the regional tournament.

The Coalgate Wildcats continued their winning ways Friday night by besting the Comanche Indians on the road. Coalgate gained nearly 600 total yards en route to the victory. Final score was 36-6. “We played fairly well,” head coach Rob Green said.

The Tupelo Lady Cats have plenty to smile about after winning the district softball tournament at Wapanucka. The girls came home with a district championship trophy after defeating Coleman 15-0 in the first game, Wapanucka 15-10 in the second game, and Wapanucka 19-17 in the third game.

— The Tupelo Tigers put another trophy in their display case following the district baseball tournament at Tupelo. The Tigers defeated Milburn 11-0, Wapanucka 11-1, and Wapanucka 12-0 to gain the district championship title.

The Coalgate Wildcats beat Dickson Thursday at home, but the Comets tried to make a game of it late. “We had it put away and let it slip out of our hands,” head coach Rob Green said. “We had them down by 20 in the fourth quarter, and then kind of let it get out from underneath us.

The Lady Cats schedule was packed this week, playing 4 District games, back to back, on the road. Coalgate Lady Cats had a rough start with two tough losses earlier in the week against Silo and Latta.

One of the greatest football teams in Wildcat history will be honored at Homecoming Friday when the Wildcats face Dickson High School. The 1968 Wildcats finished 10-1-1 and had the top defense in Oklahoma in all classes in points allowed, as they surrendered only 48 points in 12 games.

The Coalgate Wildcats overcame many obstacles Friday night to get a big win after an incredible six overtimes. They traveled into hostile territory to face a foe, who, like Coalgate, was undefeated this season and had no intention of losing.
