Service held for Curtis Leon Sheffield

Funeral services for Curtis Leon Sheffield, a lifelong Lane, OK resident, were held Monday, September 7, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Lane Baptist Church with Dr. Forrest Sheffield officiating. Burial was in Butler Cemetery in Lane with Brown’s Funeral Service of Atoka in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Sheffield was born October 21, 1942 to Leonard and Florence Loretta (Butler) Sheffield at Lane, OK and passed away September 4, 2020 at Atoka, OK at the age of 77 years, 10 months and 14 days. He graduated from Atoka High School and married Mary Elaine (Miller) June 16, 1967 at Caney, OK. They celebrated 53 years of marriage before his passing. Curtis served his country in the Oklahoma National Guard and was a rancher all his life and also worked for the highway department for the state. He was a member of the Lane Baptist Church and enjoyed riding horses, working the land, riding 4-wheelers, spending time with his grandchildren and enjoyed his cattle.

Survivors include his wife Mary Elaine Sheffield of the home in Lane, OK; son, Steven Sheffield of Lane, OK; grandchildren, Megan Robinson and husband Daniel of Stringtown, Lauryn Bird, Sara Bird, both of Sherman, TX, Alex Sheffield of Cottonwood, OK, Austin Sheffield, and Jillian Sheffield both of Durant, OK; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Fink and husband Earl of Tulsa, OK and Barbara Broome and husband Gene of Tushka, OK; brother, Doyle Sheffield and wife Sharon of Lane, OK Forrest Sheffield and wife Patsy of Tupelo, MS, Jack Sheffield and wife Lou Ann, and Larry Sheffield and wife Gloria, all of Lane, OK; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Karen Sheffield; and siblings, Lennis Frederick, Leonard Sheffield, Jr., Raymond Sheffield and Clyde Sheffield.

Casketbearers were Colt Broome, Doug Sheffield, Tracy Coyle, Alan Coyle, Travis Miller, Josh McDonald, Colby McDonald, Jamey Miller, Kevin Miller, Clif Miller and Jason Miller.
