His best friend and caregiver hauled this 140-pound dead Chimp around on a cart so the other primates he lived with could say goodbye. Cheeta spent his last years at a roadside celebrity zoo near Tarpon Springs, Florida. Cheeta was later cremated, and his remains placed in an attractive burial box for his funeral. Over 60 people attended the old Tarzan movie chimps’ funeral. Cheeta was 80 years old.

In Thursday’s regional tournament, the Tupelo Tigers slid by Buffalo Valley in a 1-0 win. Though hard fought, the Tigers then defeated Mountain View-Gotebo 4-0. Friday once again brought Tupelo and Mountain View-Gotebo together in the championship game. Tupelo took a first inning 3-0 lead and never looked back, taking the regional title in the 13-3 win. TREY WILKINSON SIGNS WITH CARL ALBERT — Coalgate senior Trey Wilkinson signed a letter of intent on March 30 with Carl Albert State College in Poteau, OK where he will become a member of the Vikings baseball team. Trey has been a member of the Coalgate Wildcat baseball team for four years and the football team for three years and says he is looking forward to continuing his education and baseball career at Carl Albert.
