Read moreBy Brooklyn Munholland Many of you know, and some may not, that my nephew, Banks Frazier, has been in and out of the hospital since he was four months old. A biopsy was performed that determined he has Polymorphic Lymphoproliferative Disorder. He had to undergo Rituximab treatment and IvIg immunotherapy. After completion of the treatment his scans showed that the treatment is working. Though this was good news, his medical team was still working to identify his underlying immune deficiency. After many months, they determined that his body is unable to properly activate his immune system. This makes his body unable to fight off any infections. Unfortunately, he will have to undergo a stem cell transplant in order to “reset” his immune system. After the completion of the transplant, he will have a 6-week hospital stay followed by a 90100 day stay in the Houston area.
