Christmas means a lot to me because it is Jesus’s Birthday. You get presents from your parents and Santa Clause to. Your Elfs come to watch you, so your not bad girls or bad boys because Santa has a naughty list and a nice list. Some people don’t believe in Santa some people do I do but some of my friends don’t. I also get to see my family and spend time with them Christmas is always fun. You have to give Santa cookies and milk for a thank you but sometimes I think its my dad.

Memorial service for Mary Elizabeth (McAusland) Layton, a longtime Coalgate resident, will be held Friday, December 19, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. at Brown’s Funeral Chapel in Coalgate with Pastor David Unsell officiating. Honorary bearers will be Harlan Sale, Lester Walley, Joshua Sale, Jerad Mixon, Mason Gaylor and Cal Birchfield. Brown’s Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements. Amanda Rae Stevens, a Coalgate resident, was born on July 1, 1983 to Bobby and Helen Stevens at Coalgate and passed away December 7, 2025 at Durant at the age of 42 years, 5 months and 6 days. She graduated from Coalgate High School with the Class of 2001 and went on to attend East Central University where she was a part of the ECU Jazz and Gospel Choir and a member of CHILAMBDA Alpha Sorority. Amanda was a library aide.
