Choctaw Nation District 12 Hosts Veterans Appreciation Dinner

On June 7, The Choctaw Nation District 12 Community Center, Choctaw Senior Citizens and Councilman James Frazier hosted a dinner honoring 19 Choctaw Veterans living in Coal County. The services began with a warm welcome from Councilman Frazier followed by The Lord’s Prayer presented in Choctaw sign language by the Choctaw Nation Princesses of District 12.

A group of 15 year old girlfriends discussed where they should meet for dinner. Finally, it was agreed upon that they should meet at the Dairy Queen next to the Ocean View restaurant because they only had $6.00 between them and Jimmy Johnson, that cute boy in Social Studies, lives on that street and they might see him and they can ride their bikes there.

One Pharmacist’s View

They said Sam was a dependable, reliable person. He was a man who took care of his family. He went to church on Sundays and enjoyed his job, working on a big aircraft carrier being constructed at the Fore River shipyard Massachusetts. The carrier Cabot had been ordered sometime earlier and was expected to join our fleet — if they ever got it finished. Pressure was on the shipyard and its 23,000 workers and Sam to hurry up and do just that.
