Funeral services for Larry Howard Smith, a lifelong Coal and Atoka, OK resident will be held Friday, January 19, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Brown’s Funeral Chapel in Atoka with Bro. David Woods officiating. Burial will be in Farris Cemetery in Farris, OK with Brown’s Funeral Service of Atoka in charge of arrangements.

Ronal Keith Collins

Ronal “Whitey” Keith Collins, a Clarita resident, was born on September 18, 1945, to Edgar “Son” and Loraine (Brown) Collins, at Wapanucka, Oklahoma. He passed away on January 12, 2024 at Yukon, Oklahoma, at the age of 78 years, 3 months and 25 days. Whitey graduated from Olney High School and received his Bachelor’s Degree at Southeastern Oklahoma State University. He was an Industrial Arts and History teacher for 37 years. Whitey was a lifelong farmer and rancher. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam war. Whitey married Linda Sue Morgan on March 18, 1967, and of this union three sons were born. He later married Ann Nelson on October 5, 2012. She preceded him in death on April 22, 2014. He was a member of the Clarita Methodist Church. Whitey enjoyed fishing, which included feeding the catfish but catching the bass. He enjoyed farming and ranching. Whitey liked eating with his friends at the Community Center in Clarita on Mondays. He also liked to read the commissioners minutes each week in the Coalgate Record Register. Whitey loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Krebs woman arrested on drug charges

A 43-year-old Krebs woman was arrested during the early morning hours of January 12 for misdemeanor possession of illegal drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving under the influence of drugs, plus traffic citations for no valid driver’s license and possession of marijuana.
